Tesco.com is an equal opportunities employer, which means we’re not really worried about your background, gender, race or disability, and even your qualifications and experience aren’t always important. What matters is your attitude. Whatever area of the business you decide to apply for, be it media publishing or operations, marketing or IT, there are certain characteristics we look for in our candidates:
First, you’ll need to have a can-do attitude. Dotcom is all about getting things done, and sometimes the near impossible really can be achieved. You’ll need the drive and determination to succeed, and you may also need to convince sceptical colleagues that change really is a good idea! Indeed, Dotcom is a very fast-paced, dynamic company, so the ability to adapt rapidly to change is vital.
Another important quality is the ability to come up with new ideas. The world of online retail is always changing, and we’re continually on the look-out for new ways to expand the online shopping experience, improve our results and out-do our competitors, and if you have a great idea, we’d love to hear about it. A good example of this is our recent Ideas Storm, encouraging our employees to come up with creative, innovative and challenging solutions to our business problems.
Indeed, solving problems within the business could well become part of your daily workload, so if you appreciate a challenge, this could really be what you are looking for. This is especially true in our International division, where you’ll not only need the flexibility to work abroad but also the ability to grapple with complex problems in the context of different cultures. And, no matter where you are based, the ability to play your part within the Tesco team is essential.
Most of all, however, you’ll need to share our vision that no-one tries harder for customers. You may not think it if you work in an area like IT, but every single job in Dotcom, whether directly or indirectly, is designed to improve the online shopping experience for customers, and that is probably our most important value. You can read more about our values on these pages, as well as learning about some of the great incentives available to Tesco employees, plus find out why Dotcom is such a great place to work.
