The Tesco Values sit at the heart of our business and help us to deliver our Goals and Core Purpose. They are what we stand for and describe how we work – at their simplest they are "how we do things round here".

The Values were developed in 1997 from discussions with thousands of staff on what they thought Tesco stood for, and what they wanted it to stand for. Ten years later, staff refreshed the Values to reflect the business today and where they wanted to work in the future. These were then launched across the globe to over 400,000 staff working in 14 markets.
We employ 400,000 people around the world, 18,000 of whom work in Dotcom. Whether you work in Ireland or India, Scotland or South Korea, the Values let us know what kind of business we are working for, what’s important and how we are expected to behave at work.
Values Awards are our way of recognising and rewarding our people for living the Values.
You can use this award to say thank you to a colleague. Customers can also use these awards to say thank you. You’ll know when the award is from a customer as ‘Great Service’ is written on the front.
You can use this award to say thank you to a team. It can either be displayed on the Values Board or in their department.
If you are visiting a store, depot or fulfilment centre you can carry these awards in your pocket to give to any team member.
This is an occasional award given to Dotcom employees who really have gone the extra mile. They might have organised an event, helped launch a new initiative or even raised an unusual amount for charity. The award is usually given out at our monthly 'business brief' which is held alongside the Thursday drinks event.
You might also find that some Dotcom teams have their own awards for staff. Members of the Dotcom marketing team, for instance, can be nominated for the 'Employee of the month' award, presented every month at the marketing team meeting. The winner of this award receives a bottle of champagne!
